Festschrift in honor of R.J. Dwayne Miller: Ultrafast Structural Dynamics

Submission Deadline: March 31, 2027Contribute to this Special Topic
This Festschrift honors R. J. Dwayne Miller for his transformative contributions to ultrafast science and his decades of pioneering research into molecular and structural dynamics. Through seminal advances in Raman, visible, and infrared spectroscopies, he introduced both conceptual and technical innovations that helped establish multidimensional optical spectroscopy as a powerful tool for probing complex systems. Miller’s vision of “making the molecular movie,” capturing atomic motion in real time, has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of dynamic processes in chemistry, biology, and materials science. His groundbreaking work on the generation and characterization of ultrashort electron pulses has also created new experimental frontiers.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and perspectives inspired by Miller’s extraordinary scientific legacy and commitment to public engagement with science. The issue will showcase advances in femtochemistry, ultrafast electron diffraction, condensed-phase and photoinduced dynamics, energy transfer, and related areas of chemical physics.

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Ultrafast Science
  • Molecular Dynamics
  • Structural Dynamics
  • Multidimensional Optical Spectroscopy
  • Ultrafast Electron Diffraction
  • Ultrashort Electron Pulses
